About TrailAware

TrailAware is the AR trail app that draws the trail on the real world, live through your camera. Point your phone at the mountain and every nearby trail appears; follow a glowing line down the dirt in front of you and never second-guess a turn. It runs fully offline with 15,000+ US trails built in, supports GPX import, and records AR video of the ride. Free on the App Store.

The app is the reference implementation of a patented AR navigation pipeline (US Patent 11,480,441 B2, cited by Qualcomm and Liebherr Aerospace), proven in the field at Red Bull Rampage. TrailAware, Inc. builds the technology and licenses it to resorts, bike parks, and platform partners.

The story

It began in late 2018, when developer and inventor Arthur Nemirovsky set out to build a better way to see the outdoors — real trails drawn onto the world through your phone’s camera. He launched the first app, Trail Roulette, in mid-2019. That September, Red Bull came calling with a challenge: could fans at Red Bull Rampage track each rider’s line, in augmented reality, in real time? In a 30-day sprint, Arthur and his co-founders hiked every rider’s route to capture GPS data and processed it in late-night coding sessions, building a live AR overlay that let fans point their phones at the mountain and watch a rider’s line appear on the terrain. It worked — and it became the official fan experience of Red Bull Rampage 2019.

When the pandemic halted live events, the team turned the technology toward everyday explorers, secured the intellectual property (US Patent 11,480,441 B2, later cited by Qualcomm), and rebranded as TrailAware. Today it’s a ground-up rebuild across iOS and Android with AR at its core — the same patented vision, finally realized.
